Our biggest annoyance was the wifi which was so-so in the room and even weaker on the balcony. We could use a phone but our iPad took ages to connect.

A resort this good should have much better wifi. Wifi everywhere else we stayed was better. The resort itself is a scattering of 3 original s French villas and some more modern ones, with a lovely thatched roofed breakfast and evening meal area.

This was lovely and quiet, and overlooked the sea. The breakfast was beyond criticism - buffet and a la carte, quality food, good service.

The best one we had on our entire trip and not to be rushed! The French pastries were outstanding but huge! There is an infinity pool and lovely lawns with shady spots for sitting and relaxing.

No beach, but that didn't bother us in the slightest. You could swim in the sea from the nearby sailing club jetty if you wanted.

The staff were very pleasant but training was not up to top notch standards - pool or garden service was non existent, you had to go and find someone for a drink.

We ate there twice, largely as it had a good atmosphere and was reminiscent of the Caribbean with a wooden structure overlooking the sea.

We would have eaten in the Strand restaurant in the resort, but it always looked empty and we did not like the long bench set up as we prefer individual tables.

The resort is only 5 mins easy walk to the crab market, where there are some surprisingly good restaurants and cafes. We ate at Holy Crab which was very good, with very good service, and had a coffee at the Arts Cafe.

Kep itself is quiet and sleepy by Cambodian standards with not a lot there, but the hotel does provide excursions if you feel the need.

We went to Bo Tree Pepper Farm and Kampot which was an interesting morning out and recommended if you can tear yourself away from the peaceful resort.

Overall, the place is expensive and far from perfect. That said, it is a wonderful way to relax in what can be a very noisy and chaotic country.

It was just what we needed and we were sad to leave. We would come again but only if we could guarantee getting room 6! Come now while Kep and Kampot are so charming - unfortunately with all the building works going on in Cambodia it may not last.

Your feedback is invaluable and all matters have been raised with the appropriate people. We would love to have you stay again, when you book simply request room 6 and if it is available we would gladly secure that for you.

Staff were friendly but need to be trained. A lot of glassware left around the pool and I had to ask staff several times for it to be removed on different occasions.

Some were left overnight! Sailing club next door was closed all week and only open for wkends. That was a major downer for us.

Dinner menu needs to have more variety. There's not a lot of places open in Kep to eat. We didn't see any hotel manager around!!

A shame because we really loved the place just so expensive for the quality of the rooms and staff service. Mauricemerguez wrote a review Jul.

I had heard so many good things about this place and was excited when we decided to head down to Knai Bang Chatt for an extended weekend.

We booked via email, they were prompt to reply and respond. Upon arrival, the receptionist was friendly but lack of interaction.

He did not inform us about the facilities they have, breakfast time or suggestions on the in-house restaurant.

After a long drive, a cold towel or water would be great usually hotels provide cold towels and a welcome drink. It was a dry welcome. Also, we noticed that the reception and the sailing club do not communicate since we wanted to know more about sailing and we were asked to go over to the sailing club which we did not mind, but if the could call for us so that we can have our quick inquiry that would seem more helpful.

The room - the decor was traditionally decorated which I like. The shower place needed a bit of scrubbing, toilet a bit smelly. Pillow was a little hard and the cushions on the sofa were dirty.

However, we could cope with it. We did enjoy the surroundings - the pool, view, the lounges - brilliant! The sailing club manager Neil was friendly and we had a great time talking to him and taking the sailboat out one afternoon.

Totally recommended. We would return again for some relaxation. Date of stay: June Value. Townsiders wrote a review Feb.

Beverley, United Kingdom 94 contributions helpful votes. Peaceful oasis by the sea. We stayed for 3 nights in February , Tuesday to Thursday and the hotel did not seem busy - it may have been busier at the weekends.

The idea was to relax after our tour of Cambodia. It is very expensive by Cambodian standards, and we were not sure if we would like it.

However, we loved it as soon as we checked into room 6, which is the upper floor sea facing room in the iconic blue villa.

It is a lovely room, compact but stylish, with the most amazing balcony looking straight to the sea. It is in our view easily the best room in the hotel and we would not have enjoyed it so much staying in another room.

Some of the newer rooms looked rather close together and would not have had such good views. All facilities were there, except one: no tea or coffee making facilities even though every other hotel we stayed in had them - this was annoying as a cup of tea on the balcony every morning would have been lovely.

There was some kind of coffee and tea making facility in the resort library, but inconvenient and no milk anyway.

The bed was comfortable, but there were some maintenance issues dripping tap, despite it being reported by us on our arrival and scuffed paintwork. Also the blinds are stylish but they let in light so you need to sleep with a face mask.

Noise from the gardeners outside could often be heard in the early mornings. Turn down service with little sweets a nice surprise. The bin in the bathroom was not emptied for some reason.

Knai Bang Chatt is a bit like a small 'Six Senses' but with fewer amenities, slightly lower standards, and not as perfect a presentation.

Pros: Friendly staff, relaxed feel, great architecture which reminds you of what Kep must have been like in the s. Landscaping and pool area is nicely designed, but small.

Seaview is excellent. Day beds are very relaxing. Good standard breakfast in nice breakfast bar area with sea view. Cons: For what it offers, it is overpriced and not great value compared for example, to a Six Senses Resort.

The total area is small, and there are new developments being built around the hotel, so it may become crowded. Construction noise carries over from across the road.

The 'Sailing Club' bar and restaurant has a wonderful setting best in Kep? Ground floor rooms don't feel very private. Potentially, this is a perfect little hideaway, but I think there needs to be a higher level of service and amenities provided for the price.

Kep is still lovely, but is in danger of becoming overdeveloped and there are some signs of environmental degredation - Cambodia should follow what Vietnam has done with Con Dao Island here to preserve the environment.

Knai Bang Chatt is a beautiful resort in a lovely peaceful location. Our room itself was pretty spartan - no TV, no fridge etc.

As with everywhere we stayed in Cambodia, the beds were very hard. The toilet was in a separate very small room with an opening to the outside covered in mosquito wire.

The toilet has one very small dim light which did not make for a pleasant experience at night time, and the toilet was very warm due to the outside opening.

This is also the case for the bathroom. Gardens and pool area are gorgeous. Breakfast is good, as is the food at the hotel and the sailing club bext door.

As we wanted a quiet getaway, Knai Bang Chatt was the perfect choice in a small town like Kep for us.

We especially liked the stylish settings in rustic, low key aesthetics. For options, we had some meals at their sailing club next door.

Great ambience again. Food is just fair not much to report. Spas is part of all our holidays, we booked a minute massage each at the hotel. My husband had a great massage and clearly a more skilled therapist, mine massage was a big failure.

There were lots of long pauses during the whole session. It was a non-oil massage, so there was no reaching for oil when I finally peeped to check on the therapist I observed that she was hesitating, watching her colleague who's massaging my husband.

Extremely disappointing. Costs USD10 each person. About minutes ride. A bit of an adventure since we were there during rainy season, so it can get messy.

USD5 each. This company was 25 minutes late. What we wish we knew was that it stops every metres or so, picking up passengers.

Journey back via Sorya 6. Avoid at all costs. Best to check for a non-stop service. To sum it up, this is a lovely property.

Spa massage at full price is not worth it. Personally I will not repeat this experience. Front desk needs although lovely people, needs to be more informative about transport arrangements etc.

We came to Knai Bang Chatt to enjoy a couple of days relaxing by the sea and did just that. The place is beautiful - great design, very chic without being too over the top; comfortable rooms and very comfortable beds.

The resort is lovely with lovely day beds by the sea, a nice bar and close to the sailing club and a short walk to Kep Crab Market for delicious food.

There were a few improvements that could be made: The service is ok, but could be improved and wasn't up to the standard of the price you pay for the resort; breakfast was limited if you are vegetarian; one of the design feature is large pieces of the walls which are just mosquito net, but these were in the bathroom, which faced the road, and the toilet, which faced the communal balcony, so we felt a bit uncomfortable with the exposure.

The balconies to the rooms are large communal balconies that anyone can access - we would have liked to sleep with the doors open, but that wasn't very secure, so we had to use the aircon instead.

And other little niggles that could secure it's luxury status a bit better. But the niggles are relatively small, and the place is lovely.

Helpful Share. Family visit to Kep. Our 2nd trip to Kep and we decided to stay by the sea shore at Knai Bang Chatt for 4 nights. Beautiful view and really good breakfast and pool.

We stayed in room Downstairs next to the pool and had a great view of the sea. The price they're charging their guests doesn't suffice the quality and condition of the rooms and service of their staff.
